Surya plays a ‘stylish’ ruffian in Lingusamy’s next Anjaan

As soon as the title of Surya’s next film with N. Lingusamy was announced as Anjaan, fans were hoping that the makers would provide the first glimpse of how the actor would appear in it. In line with the spirit of the title, the first photograph released has Surya sporting a look that one would associate with a ‘stylish’ ruffian, an archetypal character commonly seen in contemporary Tamil Cinema, against the backdrop of what looks like a minaret of a mosque.

Reportedly, Anjaan’s director Lingusamy came up with a lot of references based on which Surya worked his look. A member of the team confirmed that the decision to go with this get-up was eventually taken by the director. According to a press release from the producer’s desk, UTV Productions will co-produce Anjaan with Lingusamy’s Thirrupathi Brothers. They have managed to put together an exciting team which includes cinematographer Santosh Sivan, music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja and art director Rajeevan.

The cast and crew have already shot for over a month in Mumbai and are expected to arrive in Goa by the end of January before moving to other parts of Maharashtra.

I would love to act with Surya: Maryam Zakaria

Swedish-Iranian actress Maryam Zakaria, who's most remembered for her dance number Dil Mera with Kareena Kapoor in Agent Vinod, is excited to be back in Kollywood. She shot for an intro number with Surya and Vidyut Jamwal in Lingusamy's film in Mumbai last month.

She says, "The first special appearance I did was for a Tamil film, Nagaram. When I was approached to do a song with Surya for Lingusamy's film, I happily agreed as I know the respect and popularity the two enjoy in the south.
Surya was very sweet with every one on the set and it didn't feel like work at all. Vidyut was also part of the song. I'd earlier worked with Prabhu Dheva (in Aa Re Pritam number), and I'm happy I got to work with his brother Raju Sundaram in this song."

Maryam adds, "I'm an actress and dancing is my passion. While I enjoyed dancing with Surya, I would love to act with him in a film."

Menawhile sources close to the Surya-Lingu film's unit have confirmed that Bollywood's hot and happening heroine Sonakshi Sinha has been approached to shake a leg for another song in the film.
